Floom: New Homepage

Floom recently refreshed their website in anticipation of their New York launch, and it was a pleasure to be involved as always. In particular, I worked on the narrative journey/UX of the new homepage, structuring the modules and creating the copy that will hopefully drive engagement with the rest of their wonderful site.

Children 1st: Branding Workshop

I spent a great couple of days on the picturesque banks of Fife with the Foxall brothers and Children 1st, Scotland’s biggest children’s charity. It was a hugely rewarded way to end the year, working with their CEO and senior team to better define and strengthen Children 1st’s position in the sector. Really looking forward to working with them further and developing the ideas that arose. A great counterpoint to the more corporate work I tend to find myself doing!

Soulmade: Launch Comms and Tone of Voice

A few months ago I started working with the guys behind new fashion e-commerce platform Soulmade, on a whole host of projects from comms planning to consulting on tone of voice and messaging for the site itself.

It’s great to see the site live and looking so good – I’m biased obviously but find it’s very rare to come across a fashion e-comms site that actually has a distinct point of view and ambition. Very proud to have been involved to the extent I was.

Floom: Evening Standard Advert

I worked with Floom‘s in-house creative team to craft the copy for this half-page ad, which appeared in the Evening Standard, London’s most read newspaper.

(Excuse the image quality – the actual ad was much sharper of course!)

Rolls-Royce: #RaceYourCode

Another Rolls-Royce campaign out into the world – #RaceYourCode is an extension of the work I did on the digital and data section of their careers site. I did all the written comms for a novel recruitment tool that basically involves enticing nerds into a big warehouse to race robots around a track as fast as their coding skills can carry them.

If you happen to be a computing whizz (lord knows why you’re looking at my portfolio if you are), then head here to find out more.

MAKE Beauty

It’s been a pleasure to work on the comms for New York-based makeup brand MAKE over the past couple of months – not just because it has reunited me with old friend and former LN-CC family member Charlotte but because it’s a genuinely great brand with a beautiful sensibility to communicate.

Obviously as a red-blooded Northern man I don’t know anything about makeup, but it’s pretty obvious that making all your products paraben-free, never testing on animals and donating 10% of all sales to a foundation that supports women-led cooperatives is universally admirable.

Finally, they’ve also done some great collaborations with one of my favourite creatives that I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the years, Faye Toogood.

Check out the brand here, and buy it worldwide on Net-A-Porter.

Rolls-Royce: Digital & Data

Another big project for Rolls-Royce involved revamping their careers messaging so that it appealed more to the digital talent they’re increasingly trying to attract.

While Rolls-Royce is obviously a brand of some prestige, it doesn’t necessarily spring to mind as a place for digital pioneers (in the way that, say Google or IBM do). Digital/data though is actually becoming as important to Rolls’ continued success as their engineering – some of the stuff they’re doing in that sphere is pretty mind-blowing.

ASOS: plc relaunch

I worked with Investis on a pretty big project for ASOS, as part of a relaunch of their corporate-facing website. I was tasked with balancing the young, energetic ASOS ‘voice’ with an enormous amount of information that was primarily aimed at an older, more business-minded audience.

Knomi: hotel brochures

I worked with Foxall Studio on a series of brochures for the shopping app company Knomi. Each one was designed to sit in a different luxury hotel around London, enticing customers to explore local shopping destinations using the app.

Saltspin: lookbook

I worked on the copy for Saltspin’s new lookbook – part of a more general rebranding with Foxall Studio that will roll out more comprehensively over the coming year.
